Meet the Governors

Revd Martin Short
I am the priest-in-charge of both St Paul's Church and St Mary's Rawtenstall as well as the Borough Dean. I hold regular assemblies at St Paul's school. 
 
Karen Mychajlyshyn (Chair Person)
I have been a Governor since June 2009 and Chair since July 2011.  Rossendale has been my home since 2002. My sons are currently in Sea Serpents at St Pauls'. I am a Contract Manager with the Legal Aid Agency where part of my job is to ensure delivery of quality services. This proves to be useful as I continue with my  commitment  to support  our school- particularly in  ensuring the continuous improvement of the education of our children. 
 
Mary Buchanan (Vice Chair)
Resident in Rossendale since 1987, I became a Local Authority governor at St Paul's in April 2010 and was elected Vice Chair in July 2011.  I also chair the marketing sub group.  Before retiring I was Business Manager at a technology college and latterly  Communications and Marketing Manager for a local housing association.  Prior to coming to St. Paul's I have 13 years previous experience as a governor.  I believe that all children should have access to a first rate education, and I am committed to developing outstanding provision within our local community. 
 
Paul Barber
I am a parent governor and currently chair of the resource committee. My daughter Kate previously attended the school whilst my wife, Jackie, worked in the school office. I am a Licensed Insolvency Practitioner and partner in the Manchester firm of Begbies Traynor. My wife and I are actively involved in the social enterprise that operates Ski Rossendale, whilst I am also a season ticket holder at Oldham Athletic.   
 
Sue Johnson
I have lived in Rossendale since 2006 and have served the local community here as a Police Officer since 2001, though am currently on a career break. Prior to this I worked as a qualified Staff Nurse. I have two children at St Paul's, Lucy and Ben and I also have 2 older children who have now left school. I am also a member of the PTA. In my spare time I am very interested in diversity issues and am currently actively involved in assisting Lancashire Education Authority in developing specific diversity guidance for Lancashire primary and secondary schools.
 
Denise Crawforth
I am married to Colin and a member of St Pauls Church where I help run a Mother and Toddler group.
My daughter who is a nurse, is married with a daughter of her own.  I am a volunteer with International Aid Trust, a Christian humanitarian aid agency based in Preston.  My hobbies are patchwork quilting, reading and spending time with my Granddaughter. I have been a foundation governor since 2007. 
 
Will Aitken
I joined St. Paul's in 2012 as a Community Governor. I reside in Rawtenstall and my son currently attends the school. I am Head of Computing at a Tameside school and hope to use this experience within my duties. I also write for the Guardian website and helped advise the previous government on e-safety. I enjoy playing hockey and football in my spare time.
 
Louise Kiely
I became a parent governor after my son started at St. Paul's in September 2010. I enjoy my role as governor and I am also an active member of the PTA. I have lived in Rossendale since 2003 and have 3 boys - Gabriel, Arnie, and Guy. Before having children I worked full time as a Management Accountant for JW Lees Brewery in Middleton. I currently spend my days working part time from home and chasing after my children! If I have any spare time I enjoy learning the piano, reading, running and sleeping!   
 
Emma Harrison
I came to St Paul's in September 2005, after working for 10 years in my previous school in Lancashire teaching classes from nursery to year 2. I qualified as a teacher in 1996 from Edge Hill University with a 2:1 BA (QTS) degree in art, craft and design. I have further qualifications as an Early Years Specialist. I have been a teacher governor since 2010.
 
Mark Whittaker
I am a Foundation Governor and a member of St. Paul's Parochial Church Council. I have lived in Constable Lee since 2006 with my wife and two children, who both attend St. Paul's Primary School.  I am a Business Development Manager for a Property Facilities Management company and am also the North West Chair for the British Institute of the Facilities Management (BIFM).  I also guest lecture on Facilities Management at UK universities.  In my spare time I enjoy watching Burnley Football Club and love the great outdoors.
 
Alistair Bowron
I have been a Parent Governor since 2014 and have two daughters at the school.  My wife and I have lived in Rossendale since 2002.  I am a Social Worker and Approved Mental Health Practitioner working for Bury Council.  My spare time is taken up Fell running in the Rossendale hills, gardening and running after my two girls!
 
 
Caroline White
Since 2009 I have been a Teaching Assistant at St. Paul's and I also help with the PTA.  I live in Rossendale and I enjoy playing the guitar, gardening, drawing and fell walking and when the weather is pretty decent I like to go camping with my family.  I have been involved with the Scouts since 2009 and I am a Beaver Scout Leader at 38th Rossendale (OPEN) Scout Group.
